Tecogen CHP Modules Chosen to Power Public Housing Authority Sites in Massachusetts
Improving Efficiency While Lowering Operating Costs
WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen Inc. today announced sales of its natural gas engine-driven combined heat and power (CHP) systems to two public housing authorities in Massachusetts. Tecogen will be providing a 60 kW Ultra low emissions CHP system to each site. Both of these systems will be producing heat and electricity for these buildings at industry-class-leading efficiency and with emissions on par with fuel cells. With a proven track record of performance Tecogen CHP products were selected to reduce fuel consumption, operating costs and carbon footprints significantly, while maximizing the overall energy receive retail credit for electricity that their 60 kW CHP systems make.

Utility tariffs in Massachusetts allow 60 kW CHP systems to take advantage of utility net-metering, allowing the sites to receive retail credit for excess electricity produced by their 60 kW CHP systems. Tecogen will be providing a full turnkey installation for one site and has entered into maintenance contracts with both.
"CHP is a great addition to most large multi-family dwellings as there are high heating loads for domestic hot water and often space heating as well as a need for electricity," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. "Providing a long term solution to dramatically improve energy efficiency while using measures that have real near-term paybacks is what we do best. Not only are Tecogen modular CHP systems easy to install and have an exceptional dollar per kilowatt value, we also provide a warranty maintenance program opportunity which covers the entire CHP unit, overhauls included, for as long as the site has the system. With units in the field that we have maintained for over 25 years and 8 national service centers, we can keep your systems running at optimal performance for decades and decades to come."
Tecogen CHP systems offer facilities energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and the ability to meet today's most stringent air quality requirements by virtually eliminating criteria pollutants (contributors to smog) using a proprietary two-stage emission system. A combination of microgrid capabilities, interconnection certification, black start and high part-load efficiencies, makes Tecogen systems a particularly attractive way to produce cleaner, more efficient energy.
